Sicily's weather varies greatly depending on where, exactly, you are. The mountains can be quite cool, with January snow
in the higher Nebrodi and Madonie regions and (of course) on the slopes of Mount Etna. Summers are usually very sunny, long and (very) dry.
Messina and Taormina
In view of Etna, Messina and Taormina, as well as the Nebrodi Mountains, get more rain than Palermo and Catania. In the Nebrodi region there's seasonal snow too.

Palermo
Sicily's capital is usually quite warm, even in winter months when there's a touch of rain. Most of July and August are usually very dry - with no rain at all.

Catania
Sicily's second largest city lies along the coast at the edge of a vast plain. Volcanic ash from Etna, not rain, is the greatest annoyance.
